The tourist facility is located not far from the sea in a very valuable environment characterized by a moving dunes territory and by an area at the back with a luxuriant Mediterranean vegetation.
The ecofriendliness of the tourist facility starts from far away, because this is actually a reclamation of old existing industrial buildings (belonging to the former Cantiere Navale Donoratico) and it is not about new buildings.
At the beginning the realization of the tourist facility consisted of many different phases, such as the accurate reclamation of the neglected area, which was very degraded because of a heavy dereliction, the waste material clearance and the vegetation trimming.
The construction project of the buildings and of the relevant seats has actually involved only those areas that were already neglected, safeguarding the green zones and the dune territory.
The dunes have been protected by means of hemp ropes not to walk in and at the same time to foster the vegetation growth.
The realization of the tourist facility has not required the construction of a new road network thanks to the maintenance carried out on the existing one with an ecofriendly asphalt.
The buildings have been constructed with the utmost attention to the ecofriendliness in many fields such as the construction materials (lamellar wood, natural stones), the environmental impact (copper roofs to match with the vegetation green, wooden facings, wooden door frames and window casings) and the energy consumption (all windows are protected against the direct radiation to favour a reduced use of the air-conditioning in summer; all buildings are equipped with a thermal insulation; the photovoltaic system has been installed on all roofings). The wastewater connection to the municipal purification plant guarantees the highest purification quality.
The holiday village is equipped with a photovoltaic plant with a power of 142,80 kwp, covering almost all roofs for a total surface of 2500 square meters. The modules are made of a very innovative Schuco material called thi-film, which is manufactured by this leading European company in the production of photovoltaic plants. The above mentioned photovoltaic plant covers over 50% of the energy demand required for the holiday village and this favours the reduction of the CO2 emission (minus 107.692 t per year).
Today it is the biggest photovoltaic system installed in Tuscany and equipped with this technology; the above mentioned photovoltaic system was manufactured by the local company Energy Star Srl, which has been active in this field for over three years (www.energystarsrl.it)
